Guests rave about the incredible cake selection, which includes gluten-free options, catering to various dietary needs. The handmade desserts, particularly the lemon meringue pie and homemade cakes, receive countless praises for their taste and presentation. The staff's friendliness and accommodation shine through, making even busy weekends feel personal and welcoming. Diners frequently mention the generous portion sizes of meals like the Ploughman's lunch and the 6-hour braised steak, which represent excellent value for money. For those needing a caffeine fix, the coffee is noted as superb, often served alongside the bright and pleasant atmosphere that invites patrons to linger longer.

Most Disliked

While The Old Coffee Pot is generally praised, some visitors mention the sporadic wait times during peak hours. The popularity of the café sometimes results in crowded conditions, impacting the speed of service. A few reviews note that while the ambiance is charming, some may find the decor not to their taste, leaning toward a kitschy vibe. Additionally, a handful of customers expressed disappointment when specific seasonal specials ran out, underscoring the popularity of certain dishes. However, these critiques are minor compared to overall customer satisfaction and repeat visits.

Visited here today with the intention of having a drink and maybe a cake. It gives the impression of a 1940's tea room and has many period items and decorations. The staff are warm and friendly and so welcoming that we immediately felt like wed known them for ages. However, plans changed when we saw the extent of the menu and specials board we had full meals! Our family had Sweet chilli rice chicken which was very tasty, The Ploughman's lunch was huge with plenty of cheese, tomato, pickle and bread that could not all be eaten. The 6 hour braised steak was full of meat cooked beautifully and I had liver and onions that I only just managed to finish. All the meals were cooked to perfection and presented with such care and attention. I know their menu is changing for the winter but we will happily revisit as soon as we are able. This is so much more than just a Tea Room. Thank you so very much for a wonderful meal with great food and great staff. See you again soon👍

Popped in here for breakfast on my way back from a little overnight trip and so glad I did. The food was absolutely superb and being coeliac was no issue at all for the staff. They even had almond milk for my coffee. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting the area.

First time visiting yesterday, a nice breath of fresh air compared to the standard "coffee shop". A bright and pleasant atmosphere in there and genuinely unique. Coffee was great, cake was "beautiful" (according to my family). Biggest positive was an awesome and friendly attitude by the staff. Will be heading there today again 😁. Thank you to the staff and management 🙌🏻

What an awesome place with amazing food and prices, owners were very friendly and cooked everything to perfection. And cakes are out of this world. We don't go to Oswestry very often but when we do I will make sure to visit.

We walked in on a busy Friday afternoon. Hoping just for some coffee and cake. 4 adults and a large dog. The owners were very accommodating and sorted a table out for us. They gave our large but nervous dog lots of fuss, treats and explained the extensive home baked cake options including 4 of them being Gluten free. Wow….the cakes were amazing, the owners were amazing and we will be back knowing this gem is here.

A lovely tea room which was surprisingly spacious inside. The menu was large and varied and the staff were incredibly polite, helpful, accommodating and friendly. Our food was lovely, especially the Welsh rarebit. There were big steps to get in the front door so a little tricky with our pram but they did have a high chair and baby changing facilities available. They also welcomed our three dogs.

We’re on holiday in the area and needed somewhere to pop into for a late lunch. I found a recommendation for this coffee shop on a Facebook page for Oswestry. We had a panini and coffee each, plus a slice of carrot cake to share. It was all very lovely and you could tell it was home made. It’s dog friendly too, which was a real bonus for us considering we’re unable to leave him at the lodge where we’re staying on his own. They brought him a bowl of water and even offered him a sausage! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and it had a lovely local feel, nearly everyone was greeted by name. We even got chatting to a regular who said how much he enjoys coming here, which says it all. Definitely a place we’d happily return to if we’re ever back in the area.
